Explaination Writing

It is important to keep the art of Siapo,Aute,Hiapo,Tapa,Ngatu to proceed with the knowledge to others around you about your culture. 


Ngatu, Tapa Hiapo, Aute and Siapo are all names from dissimilar cultures and various cultures make it variety  and put different patterns on it. Different cultures use it for different purposes for example Samoan’s use it for weddings, funerals, well your daughter’s getting her high chief



In Samoa, how you make a Siapo you have to use the bark of the u'a, (paper mulberry tree) to make their cloth. The bark is carefully peeled off the tree in strips and then the inner bark is separated and scraped clean. It is then pounded until it widens into a larger size



It is important to keep this art form alive so that they can pass the knowledge to generations and they can relate and help build communities, aiga/family,whakawhanaungatanga. It is important because we can  contribute to who we are as people. By looking at what has been done before, we gather knowledge and inspiration that contribute to how we speak/tautala, feel, and view the world around us.


Statement: Keeping this art form alive is something that is important because it is something that helps build community/fausiaina nuu, poto poto aiga and whakawhanaungatanga. For example you can make a Siapo and give it to someone that is faʻapitoa ia te oe pei o lou aiga. You can see Siapo in different events like weddings/faaipoipoga , Aso fanau/ Birthdays, Funerals/maliu. Different cultures use Siapo for different events like weddings/faaipoipoga , Aso fanau/ Birthdays, Funerals/maliu. siapo is used for floor mats, bedding and room dividers, but traditionally, it was a common form of clothing. For example when you go to a funeral people make them as clothes to put on the testimony box to cover it.
